Each industry has its own realities, constraints, and dynamics. Understanding these factors in depth is essential to making informed decisions. At Agéco, we combine industry expertise with rigorous analysis to provide a clear view of business realities and support sound decision-making.

Agri-Food Systems

Agri-food systems are shaped by interconnected economic, environmental, and social realities. Market volatility, climate risks, regulatory changes, and evolving societal expectations require organizations to anticipate transformations and show consistency in their decision-making.

At Agéco, we work with stakeholders across the agri-food value chain, including associations, cooperatives, producers, food processors, and retailers. This close engagement, combined with our in-depth knowledge of Canada’s agricultural sectors, gives us both an operational and a strategic perspective, from the farm to the marketplace.

We bring together business intelligence, governance, and environmental and social impact analysis to connect on-the-ground realities with market dynamics and public policy. Our approach helps inform decision-making and support meaningful stakeholder engagement.

Buildings and Infrastructure

Buildings and infrastructure are evolving rapidly in response to new regulatory requirements, evolving certification standards, and changing market expectations. These transformations are influencing design, construction, and investment decisions while redefining the performance and value criteria applied to assets.

At Agéco, we support stakeholders across the built environment in making strategic and operational decisions. Our understanding of real estate dynamics, strengthened by our close relationships with stakeholders across the aluminum, steel, wood, and concrete value chains, enables us to combine a strong business perspective with a practical understanding of on-the-ground realities.

We leverage data, industry expertise, and analytical tools to inform decisions, assess risks, and identify performance opportunities. Life cycle assessment, GHG quantification, circularity, and environmental performance are among the tools we use to support our tailored strategies. We also contribute to the development of frameworks shaping the industry.

Industry and Energy

Players in the manufacturing, processing, and energy industries are operating in a context of mounting pressure on costs, resource access, regulatory compliance, and operational performance. Changes in processes, technologies, and energy sources are creating new investment choices that can have a significant impact on business resilience, particularly in the face of climate change.

At Agéco, we help organizations assess their options and make decisions that balance performance with risk management. We use our knowledge of industrial processes, value chains, and emerging technologies to assess the trade-offs between different technological, energy, and manufacturing options.

Our work includes decarbonization, life cycle and circularity analysis, material flows, and issues related to natural resources, including water.

Territory and Public Services

Communities and public services must balance governance, climate adaptation, service quality, and collaboration among partners. Municipalities, RCMs, watershed organizations, businesses, citizens, and local partners are called upon to work together and share responsibilities, despite sometimes having divergent interests and diverse local realities.

At Agéco, we have an in-depth understanding of the realities of various territories and the challenges they face. This allows us to provide a neutral and structured perspective, understand local dynamics, bring together different perspectives, and create the conditions for constructive dialogue among all participants.

We mainly work in territorial and sectoral strategic planning, foresight and climate adaptation, infrastructure resilience, local food systems, and local economic development.

Services and Finance

Service providers and financial institutions play a key role in sustainable transitions through their practices, value chains, and allocations of capital. Data quality, supplier dependencies, evolving transparency requirements, and exposure to sector-specific risks further complicate their decision-making.

At Agéco, we bring together expertise in corporate responsibility, finance, and sector economics to assess impacts, anticipate risks, and understand the transformations affecting the industries in which these organizations operate. Our cross-disciplinary perspective helps inform decisions related to organizational practices, financing, investment, and portfolio management.

Our work includes business intelligence, foresight, risk analysis, materiality assessments, and ESG impact quantification, drawing on recognized frameworks such as ISSB, CSSB, PCAF and PBAF. .

Digital Technology

Digital technologies are transforming every sector. Artificial intelligence, growing data needs, and the expansion of digital infrastructure raise questions about environmental impacts, supply chains, and data governance, while also creating new innovation and performance opportunities.

At Agéco, we combine environmental impact quantification, strategy, and business intelligence to help organizations leverage these technologies while managing their impacts. Our work includes assessing the footprints of data centres and other digital infrastructure, eco-design, decarbonization, and responsible procurement.

We also help organizations quantify the environmental and economic benefits of digital solutions and integrate artificial intelligence as a lever for improvement, innovation, and performance.

Assess the environmental impact of packaging products

Since 2015, our team has been supporting Cascades, a Quebec leader in sustainability, on a wide range of initiatives focused on measuring, improving and communicating environmental performance. This collaboration has included life cycle assessments (LCAs) for packaging and tissue products, Scope 3 greenhouse gas inventories, the development of tools to quantify the environmental benefits of Cascades products, studies conducted for Éco Entreprises Québec, and support for eco-design initiatives.
