Our values

Our Story

2001

Expertise rooted in academia

The result of a spin-off from Université Laval, Groupe AGÉCO was founded by a group of economics professionals and researchers, including Daniel-Mercier Gouin, Diane Gilbert, Maurice Doyon and Michel Morisset. From the beginning, its mission has been to support decision-making through analysis, research, and knowledge transfer.

2004

A pioneering position on sustainable development

Long before sustainable development became critical for organizations, Groupe AGÉCO expanded to include it in its expertise. This marked the beginning of a forward-thinking position that would help shape the organization’s multidisciplinary approach.

2009

People-led growth

Agéco’s first employees, Isabelle Charron and Catherine Brodeur, became partners. This milestone marked the beginning of a culture of growth based on trust, knowledge sharing, and talent development.

2013

In good hands

Groupe AGÉCO brought on Jean-Michel Couture as a partner and made several changes to its shareholder structure, underscoring its commitment to building an organization that moves with the times and builds its success on collective expertise.

2015

Expertise enhanced by Quantis Canada

Groupe AGÉCO integrated the operations of Quantis Canada, a life cycle assessment (LCA) research centre that was spun off from CIRAIG at École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2009. Together, the teams accelerated the development of expertise in LCA, eco-design, responsible procurement, and environmental communications, strengthening the organization’s position as a sustainable development pioneer in Quebec and Canada.

2020

A cross-Canada presence

By adopting new work methods, Groupe AGÉCO was able to attract talent from beyond its Montréal and Quebec City offices. This broadened the team’s range of expertise and strengthened its capacity to meet the needs of organizations across Canada.

2026

25 years of expertise

Since its inception, Groupe AGÉCO has identified and analyzed emerging issues, staying ahead of the curve and going beyond established trends and frameworks to help organizations and decision-makers anticipate the transformations taking place in our world. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the organization is becoming Agéco and unveiling a new brand identity that better reflects its positioning and breadth of expertise.
