Environmental Quantification and Performance

What We Do

Life cycle assessment (LCA)

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is governed by ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards and involves the quantification and evaluation of the environmental impacts of a product, service, process, or organization across its entire life cycle. From defining the scope to analyzing the results, LCA provides a comprehensive, science-based overview of environmental impact, helping to identify priority areas for action, compare different options, and inform decision-making.

GHG inventory

A GHG inventory quantifies an organization’s greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 based on its activity data, in accordance with recognized standards such as the GHG Protocol. It helps identify the main sources of emissions and opportunities for reduction, helping the organization prioritize actions and lay the groundwork for a credible decarbonization journey in line with its business reality.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

An EPD transparently and consistently presents the environmental impacts of a product based on a life cycle assessment. It provides verified and comparable data, helping strengthen the credibility of environmental claims and deliver on market expectations. It also supports decision-making around purchasing, design, and product specifications.

Eco-design

Eco-design aims to reduce the environmental impacts of products and packaging from the earliest stages of design, drawing in particular on life cycle assessment. Agéco helps organizations identify key opportunities for improvement and guide their choices of materials, processes, and designs to develop higher-performing solutions that live up to market expectations.

GHG target setting

GHG target setting helps organizations set realistic yet ambitious targets for emissions reduction aligned with climate science and leading practices, including those of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Based on a structured emissions inventory, Agéco models reduction pathways and supports organizations in defining, implementing, and monitoring their targets and integrating them into a decarbonization roadmap.

GHG Inventory Buildings and Infrastructure

Supporting a path toward carbon neutrality

Since 2020, Agéco has been supporting Groupe Montoni, a leader in sustainable real estate development in Quebec, in understanding and communicating its environmental performance. The goal is to help the organization develop an action plan and strategies for its real estate portfolio and head office. This support led to a first corporate GHG inventory for 2019, which served as the basis for its ESG strategy and a carbon neutrality commitment for 2040. Since that first milestone, Agéco has been supporting MONTONI across the various dimensions of its decarbonization plan.

Advancing decarbonization in the medical technology sector

Agéco supports Medicom in advancing its climate strategy across its North American operations and product portfolio. This collaboration combines environmental impact assessments, including life cycle assessments of procedure masks and N95 respirators, with the development of greenhouse gas reduction initiatives. The approach helps inform decision-making, identify key decarbonization opportunities and progressively integrate climate considerations into the organization’s corporate responsibility strategy.

Demonstrating Canadian milk’s environmental and social performance

Since 2010, Agéco has been supporting the national organization representing Canadian dairy farmers in assessing the industry's environmental and social performance. From conducting and updating the life cycle assessment of Canadian milk to developing decision-support tools, our collaboration has helped quantify the sector's progress, guide its efforts, and support credible communications with farmers, decision-makers, and consumers.

Strengthening the competitiveness of Quebec’s wood industry

Agéco supports QWEB in showcasing the environmental performance of Quebec wood products within the construction sector. This collaboration includes documenting the environmental performance of wood products and building systems through environmental product declarations, as well as developing tools that help better understand and promote the wood value chain. These initiatives equip industry stakeholders with the information they need to address environmental challenges and meet evolving market expectations, particularly in Europe.
